Nintendo hopes to revolutionize gaming the way the have in the past with the innovation they are known for. They will also stand by their motto of quality over quantity. They believe this is what a gamer really wants and have chosen to not create an all-in-one entertainment center.
Nintendo will compete by with Sony and Microsoft’s master media plan creating imaginative games rather than using superior technology and creating an all-in-one media center. Nintendo is only interested in doing what it has always done, selling video games. This is extremely evident because the Revolution will play classic Nintendo games and is backwards compatible with every game released on a Nintendo console. Nintendo hopes that this will bring in more sales because hardcore gamers will want to go back to their roots and relive childhood memories by playing classics such as Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and the Legends of Zelda, which still appeal to gamers in their twenties and thirties.
Another innovation that will appear in the Revolution is the controller. The newly designed wireless controller abandons the commonplace controller of the last twenty years and revolutionizes the way games are played. The new controller senses movements and relays this onto the screen. It will allow for an impressive video game experience.
Rather than renovating an already existing console idea and adding on more power and entertainment features, Nintendo is going their own route with the Revolution. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, believes that Nintendo’s innovation will attract many gamers to this revolutionizing machine.
