I didn't talk about the new SOuth Park yet. I thought it was great. I enjoyed the bush bashing and it was a great spoof on the "day after tomorrow". I especially enjoyed the part when they went outside in all those clothes and thought they were experiencing advanced hypothermia. I also liked how in the end i won't reveal what happened but don't you think it shows how fear of the masses can make people so frantic that they don't realize the truth when it confronts them directly. For instance back during the elections, Bush once slipped up and said that he wasn't going to take the troops out of Iraq after there elections. He was met by silence instead of cheers and quickly corrected himself. I think this was actually an example of when you say what you are actually thinking (I don't remember the specific psychological term). Anyway catch the new SP's on Wednesdays at 10:00 P.M. And usually at 2:00 a.m. if you miss it.

I think this is a poem because it is written in prose. I, however, think it is a terrible example of one. I dislike it mainly because it doesn't portray a bigger picture to me then a red wheel barrow with some rain on it next to some chickens. I can't decyper any symbolism in this but i'm sure you'll have some when we talk about it in class.

Ok I thought the new South Park was pretty funny, but it always is so what else is there to talk about. Is it right that as we are paying out our asses for gas that big oil companies are profiting so much. The profits for BP were up something upsurd like 75% in three months. How is this right. THe government is thinking about taxing big oil more if they recieve these enormous profits. Because gas is such a necessary commodity the oil companies will just pass the cost on to us the consumer. If the government has any sense they will tax us directly making the price so much higher that we will drive less. Forcing the companies to actually lower the cost to keep people consuming. If you at other companies they have succesfully limited the consumption of gas making the consumer in the end spend less, while giving the government the same amount of revenue which they can use in other areas and successfully keeping it out of the enviromentally unfriendly big oil companies.

Since Bush has been ridiculed so much for putting such an unqualified person up for the Supreme Court, it isn't surprising that today in the newspaper Harriet Miers recinded her campaign for a seat on the Supreme Court. Anyway I think that Bush should stop listening to the people around him and find a qualified person who will uphold the law as set forth in the constitution. A woman has the right to an abortion in my view and that the person who is nominated should uphold this law. I don't think the government should have to pay for this unless it effects the health of the mother. I know this is controversial, but why can't everyone just come clean on their own viewpoints. The evangelical christians elected Bush which shows that the majority of the population supports this cause so put in someone who is the most qualified not just giving your buddies jobs.

I enjouyed the use of parodies in the Simpson's Halloween special. I think that implementing parodies in a show or movie allows the audience to relate to the movie in a comical fashion. This is evident in the Simpsons with the obvious parody of the Shining. Through relating a well know scene of another movie into there show they revoke memories of that movie which proviedes an emotional response.
