Black jack, Poker, Roulette, and Slots[:] we all have heard of them and now it is in front of our lawmakers whether or not to make them legal [where? it's legal in a lot of places]. Well the government limits our exposure to these entertaining games. Over the years gambling has gone from a sin to socially acceptable and beneficial, yet the government is still thwarting its expansion.
VFW's, Fire Station's, and Race Tracks all have one thing in common. They all need money and they are all pushing law makers to allow slot machines to do raise it. Is a new fire truck going to buy itself? No it is not and by implementing slot machines it will gross enough annually to help these struggling businesses and groups. I will use an example of where this was implemented and how it worked.
Record deficits, funding cut, schools with old textbooks, all of these problems can be solved by gambling. In Massachusetts there was a bill passed legalizing slot machines. The predicted revenue for the state was a staggering 350 million dollars annually with initial licensing revenue of another 100 million. This will allow them to refund the programs they cut last year as well as have a surplus in their budget. I will go into greater detail the ways it will help local and state governments with their funding problems as well as preventing job loss. [This is really fascinating stuff]
The American people as a whole are intelligent[. T]hey know the risks of gambling and do it not in order to make money, but as a form of entertainment. It is just like paying for a movie and seeing the show. Some people think that people will get out of control into a gambling addiction. First of all I will present statistics to show that most people aren't addicted and then disprove an argument in the Wall Street Journal by exploiting the faulty logic in their argument about teens becoming addicted in gambling. I will also present a parallel between the state allowing the sale of alcohol, and cigarettes even thought they are more addictive and eat away at you bank account with even less control.
Technology in the casino[:] RFID tracking your bets and hands, or wireless poker you can play in the pool or in your bed. All of this is alright. Some say that setting up an incentive program based on how good they bet is wrong. I think if you are going to be gambling and loosing your money you should be getting the complimentary room over the guy who just cleaned house and left. As for the wireless gambling it is a convenience which you can choose to do and allows Casinos to maximize revenue that is lost while players sit in the pool, which cost them millions. [This paragraph doesn't make any sense.]
People are going to gamble whether they can do it legally or not. Poker at the home all usually contains bets. The government has no way of taxing this transaction or the online sites with servers over seas. With record deficits and tons of illegal and legal gambling go[ing] on[,] what is the big deal with allowing people to do it where they want to do it and allowing it to benefit society through taxes.[?]
[Your writing still has a lot of technical issues, but this sounds like a really cool final project. I think your central thesis is interesting and you seem to have really thought hard about some of the issues at stake in your proposal. I'm interested to see the final results.]

I will show the rapid increase in popularity of casinos and show the shift in thinking over time.

Deletions:
If you turn on the TV or open a newspaper or go online you will be bombarded with the harsh reality of gambling. Many individual cities and countries are starting to consider gambling as an option to lower taxes in other areas while increasing revenue. Is it right for the government to allow advertising for an addiction so many people have? No its not in the past the government used to not allow ads for alcohol, and they still block pro smoking ads, but is that enough? Alot of people can't control there gambling problems and by making it more accessible and expanding the assortment it will negatively hurt the american people. I used to watch a person on welfare come in to my work and sped the entire check on lottery tickets. Is this right when she has kids at home starving. Obvious this is a disease and people need help, but the government should not make it easier for companies to take advantage of the impressionable young adults looking for a quick buck.
