Today my swim team is leaving for Ohio State, and since Ohio State sucks, that makes us that much more pumped up to beat their @$$'s. This weekend should be challenging because of the training that we have been doing, but at the same time it should be a good experience because of the fact that some of the teams that will be there, most of us have not swum against. The competition will be great, the pool is awesome and very fast, and the team spirit will be at an all-time high because of the fact that it is Ohio State. We have one goal as a team and that is to go in there and show them the real Penn State. GO STATE!!!!

Huge sociology test today, which should be about 0% fun. The class is interesting and everyting, but it is just hard to get into a class in which the teacher just makes you want to stab yourself with the pen that you are holding. Needless to say that with the right teacher for the class, it would be extremely fun, but since he is not, there is no need to take his class. I wont mention his name here, but if you would like to know his name so you wont take a class with him, do not hesitate to ask me. Anyways back to studying, hope everyone has a great day and I will see you guys later.

So I am back at school and the only thing I can think about is how much fun home was and how relaxing it was. All I can say is that I will be thinking about the next break, Christmas break, until it actually arrives. I am counting down the days until I will be home again back in my own bed where I actually fit and my feet dont hang off the end. With finals week coming close and classes of the first semester closing in, the only word that comes to mind with all this is STRESS!!!! On top of all the work, we are still expected to attend all practices which will be so hard, but anyways. Hope everyone had a good break and I know I am still counting so please Christmas break come soon.

Thanks a lot for the clearing up and the explanation of what went on in class on wednesday, it helps me to understand you a little bit more and know where you are coming from. Anyways, I dont understand how it can drop about 20 degrees in one day here. Being from Virginia, things are a little more gradual when it comes to weather. How do all of you Pennslyvanians deal with this, if you could give me some feedback that would be great, haha. As the week winds down I cant help but start thinking about home and what it will be like to sleep again in my own bed. Oh yeah and not to mention all of the great food that will be made for Thanksgiving. Anyways, hope everyone is having a good night and I will see you all in class tomorrow.

There was a slight misunderstanding in class today LoL could you read my 11/16 Blog. It might clear it up a bit. Banning religion isn't actually in my project at all, it would be rediculous to try and I don't think we should anyway. That just came up when everyone was demanding "an anwer." I had no intention of outlining my whole project so I was unprepared...I had only come prepared to talk about the one aspect. Also I agree with you about the police thing (although I think the same thing happened to that guy that happened to me...probably only wanted to talk about one thing, but ended up having to talk about it all and just wasn't quite prepared for that). Also about cars...I actually like horses and think they should be brought back in style...lets ban cars haha SheElff

Honestly I really could not believe what I heard in class today. For someone to try and just get rid of oragnized religion is just crazy. Dont get me wrong I think it is a great topic for a debate, but for someone to be so adament about it and honestly thinking that it would work is nuts. When you really think about it, it makes no sense to get rid of it for the reason that she gave in class today. Her reasoning was because people die from it. People die from almost anything every single day. People die from autotmobile accidents everyday, does that mean we should outlaw all of the automobile driving in America? Some things just wont work.

So I am sitting here pondering the events of class today and it just dawned on me that the whole thing about the police brutality is not even half way reasonable. When you think about it what do your really think would happen if there was no police force anywhere? Would it be a smrt thing? In my opinion, I dont think that having no police force would solve anything, it would only cause more problems. If you were to leave everything up to the discretion of the members of the community, not only would nothing get done, but it would also be complete chaos. I just dont think that this is feasable at all. One thing that I do think would work is maybe regulating police officers a little bit more by having them performing all of their tasks in front of a camera. That would be one of the only ways that I can think of to regulate the police brutality.

As I sit in my dormroom I dont even know what to do with all of my time. There is no afternoon practice and nothing to do besides this blog post. On what we talked about today in class, I definately think it is scary to think about the fact that we might not even be needed later on in the future. I dont think that there is any way that machines can possibly take over all of the lower paying jobs, and to be quit honest I think its a little gross to think about the fact that your burger at many fast food joints could possibly use machines to fix all of the food. Actually it wouldnt be that bad because im sure that some machines are cleaner than some humans. Also I dont think that there will ever be a time when the world will run rampant with robots. I just dont think that it is possible that there will be a company that will mass produce robots that will replace humans because it is just not logical, but who knows I could be wrong.

What a day. After our team meeting, I was so pumped up about the meet this weekend I could not get to sleep until 2 this morning, and when you have practice at 5 it is no fun getting no sleep at all. Overall it has been an interesting day. While doing one of our sets this morning I got to thinking about why so many people are racist? This thought came to me because of the fact that we r in a seminar in my BBH class about race relations. What is so bad about different people that we cant just all get along. It seems that people just dont respect all of the work that other people had to do such as Martin Luther King Jr. and people like that. I know this is kind of an off topic blog post, but it just is something that bothers me about some people. Without diversity, in my opinion, the world would be a very boring place.

What a week, this is the first time I have blogged in many days because of how busy my week has been. I have had, thus far, 2 papers to do 2 exams and I still have yet to have 2 quizzes tomorrow. Oh yeah and not to mention spending over 5 hours at the pool everyday doesnt help the fact that I am stressed out with so much work. Hopefully I will be able to get a bunch of work done tonight in study hall, but more than likely not because of the fact that everyone here is so strict and if you so much as breathe wrong, they will kick you out. This place is rediculous and feels like a prison each time I come in here. I feel as if all of my rights as a free human being have been taken away when I step foot inside of this building. Actually not really, that was a little extreme, but oh well. I am off to see how much of this work I can get done, so thats all for tonight.

While walking to one of my classes this afternoon past the pool I couldnt help bu notice the exremely strong aroma of chlorine, and if the smell was strong to me, trust me it was strong. It was so strong at one point that it took my breath away and felt like it was burning my nose hairs, but thankfully it wasnt. After class was over when it was time for swim practice, i noticed 3 fire trucks and an ambulance. It seemed that some guy went downstairs into the pump room and opened one of the chlorine containers thinking it was empty and it wasnt so it was sort of a chlorine explosion. The toxic waste team had to come in and clean it up and I started thinking that we may not have had practice, but of course I was wrong and the practice that we had was actually one of the hardest ones we have had all season, which was fun. Now I am in study hall soo bored and wanting to go to sleep. Thats all for today.

So I just purchased my halloween costume and I will have the pleasure of being a Dallas Cowboy's cheerleader and it will be awesome. One reason is because the costume is a small and barely covers me and also that it takes 3 people just to get the thing around my shoulders, but anyways, it should be a fun and interesting weekend. It is kind of weird to me that even though Halloween is a satan worshipping holiday, so many people still celebrate it. What is even more interesting is the fact that most people have no idea that it is a satanic holiday in which the celts used to worship and praise all of the evil spirits. Oh well still makes for a fun night and lost of candy!

Continuing on the topic of Bear vs. Shark, in my opinion, there is no way that the shark could lose. If anyone has ever seen a bear attack it is not the swiftest animal. Sure it is powerful and there are very few things, if anything, that can withstand a blow from a full size grizzly bear. On the other hand, sharks attack with swiftness and strategy. They hit every single thing that they kill in the spot that they know will hurt them badly, or kill them instantly. In other words what I am trying to say is that the reason that the bear would not win is because it is just not fast enough. It is plain and simple, the shark is the better fighter in nearly all aspects of fighting.

The other night as I sat watching Stanley Kubricks Full Metal Jacket, I began to think to myself how messed up some people got from the Vietnam War. They were messed up from more than just all the fighting, some of which included withdrawals from luxuries at home, while others included people going insane from the non-stop bomb blasts and constant gun shots. These only happened if the person was able to make it through boot camp. As we see in this movie, there is one individual who just flat out loses it in boot camp his name Private Pile. Because of the fact that he is much slower than the others in terms of both actual speed and thought processes he is treated terribly. Since he is not able to do many things right, the drill sergeant punishes the rest of the group for Pile's screw up's and the group retaliates by beating Pile with soap bars wrapped in cloths. As a result of all the physical and emotional torture, the night that all of the Marines graduated, Pile is caught in the bathroom with his loaded gun screaming out orders that he knew. When the drill sergeant walks in and finds him, he demands that he put the gun down and to step away. Instead of this he decides to point the gun at the drill sergeant and pull the trigger. After realizing what he has done he decides to turn the gun on himself and pull the trigger. This really makes you wonder what drives people to do these things before they were even in the war. And by the way I havent the slightest idea what is supposed to be meant by the poem.

So the famous Penn State homecoming is this weekend, which means that it will be another crazy weekend. We should be able to demolish Purdue, at least thats what I am hoping. I am very anxious to see what bowl game we are going to be in. I am hoping that when all is said and done we will crack into the top five. I dont forsee us having any problems getting through Purdue, Wisconsin, or Michigan State seeming as they have all lost to teams that we have beaten. That should definately be good enough to get into the top 5 in the country. Two teams that will and deserve to go head to head with each other in the National Champioship game are USC and Texas. Both teams have incredible defenses and offenses and both teams have fearless leaders as quarterbacks. When it comes down to it I would love to see Texas win the National Championship because they desereve it more and they have a good team, rather than just a few really good players. They also play a lot better than any other team out there, and also I would love to see USC lose.

While sitting here going back over some revisions of my causal argument about obese children and television it really got me wondering, why dont parents regulate the amount of TV that a child should be able to watch? Do they really not care in what physical state that there child is in? I know that when I was a young tike, my parents would not allow me to watch more than 5 hours a week of television. This includes non-educational things such as cartoons and shows of that nature. The only time I was allowed to watch more than 5 hours of television would be when either I was watching the news or a show with my parents, which did not happen very often. I definately think kids should be more active these days because its sad when you are walking down the street and you see a very obese child. Sometimes they cannot help it, but other times it has got to be because of the television and maybe their eating habits. This is, in my opinion, very sad to see and also gives our society a bad reputation in the fact that we dont take very good care of our children.

So tonight I had to go to the l ibrary again for another information session for my BBH 148 class. This is a class that is only for athletes and helps "cope with college". Many athletes have the wrong perception going into college and they have the mentality that they can do whatever and it doesnt matter because they are athletes. That is a HUGE misconception in my opinion. If you dont perform well in the classroom, then there is no way that you would be eligible to compete for your sport and team. On the other hand non-athletes think that its easy to be an athlete, and that is also a big misconception. Not only do we have to go to class, but we have to attend practices twice a week and also find time to keep up with our work and not only do we have to just make mediocre grades, but we have to maintain certain GPA's and be on track with credits and such. This is all monitored by the NCAA, Big Ten, and Penn State. Being a student athlete isnt as easy as it may seem.

After receiving and reviewing my exam schedule I was ecstatic to see that I only have 3 exams out of the 6 classes that I am taking. These exams include Psychology, Sociology, and Math. These should be relatively easy exams to do, which will be nice before christmas break. So I was thinking about the whole Cambodia thing and I was wonderign exactly what possess people to do what they do to other human beings? Is there something wrong with a chemical imbalance in their heads, or is it just insanity? Another question I have pondered is if most mass murderers are considered to be well educated and of the genius status, then why is it that they make poor decisions all the way to the point of killing people in large quantities, a.k.a. genocide? I think that all of it is due to the fact that they know that they are powerful people, but all they are focusing on is getting more power and the only way to do that is to kill off the people who are in the way.
(10/11/05)
Wow, Dallas beats the Eagles. Trust me I am just as surprised as everyone else out there that this happened. Dallas this year is less than stellar, but as long as they keep on winning some games, thats fine by me. Anyways, after todays discussion in class, I would have to agree with the teacher that writing a collective paper among a large group of people, to me, would be very frustrating. The main reason for this is that noone, at least in our class, can agree on anything. When we finally agreed on something and voted on it, the vote was even, 11 to 11. When it came down to it, we all just decided to call it quits for the day and just wait until next class. I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the paper and if it will actually get done. Who knows?
(10/10/05)
Reading this article I was a little shocked to learn about the whole thing because I had no idea that any of this had happened. The Cambodian Genocide Project, or CGP as it is more commonly called, happened between the years of 1975-1979 and was considered to be one of the worst loss of human lives in the past century. This genocide has even been compared to that of the one that occurred in Nazi Germany because nearly 21% of the entire countries lives were lost. This is estimated to about 1,000,000 or 1 in every 7 people in the entire country were killed in the genocide as a result of malnutrition and malnourishment while another 200, 000 people were killed as enemies of the state. I am not exactly sure why the people were shot, to me it just sounds like there was uncertainty of people being loyal to leaders and being labeled as "traitors" and if they were not going to work on the large group of collective federations of farms they must be killed. This, to me, was just a group of people on a power trip just like every other genocide that has ever happened.

I am going to take this blog to review a cd that I just bought and it is O.A.R. Stories of a Stranger. Some of the best songs are track 1, Heard The World, track 3, Wonderful Day, track 5, Lay Down, and track 6 Program director. Of all the local bands out there, O.A.R. would have to be, without a doubt, the best garage/jam band out there. The only group that comes even close to them in the jam band genre could only be the one and only Dave Matthews Band, which I will be seeing here in December. This weekend is going to be nothing short of amazing. On friday we have our swim team intrasquad meet in the afternoon with a dinner provided by the senior parents. After that I get to cruise on over to the Bryce Jordan Center for the O.A.R. concert, which will be sweet. On saturday, after what is supposed to be an easy practice, I am headed over to camp out with my friends who have been theren since saturday to go to the long awaited Penn State-Ohio State showdown.
(10/5/05)
One of my last comments on Penn State football would have to be that we are ranked 16th in the nation!!!! Ok thats it. Anyways, this evening I attened a mandatory alcohol awareness seminar for all student athletes by Mike Green, a.k.a Greeny and it was probably one of the best presentations that I have ever seen. Not only was he very informative, concise, and to the point, but the points that he brought out were definately in the most unorthodox ways. He was loud, outspoken, and even rude at times, but the points that he made definately sank in. I dont think that anyone has ever given a better presentation, or will ever give a better presentation, at least not in the rest of my lifetime. Anyways, today was busy filled with the joys of math, ENGLISH, and my athletic BBH class, and not to mention the 2 swimming workouts and a lifting session. In other words im tired as hell right now and can barely lift my arms, so I think I am going to hit the hay, but it was nice talking to you and I will see you tomorrow.
(10/3/05)
This weekend was nothing short of amazing. Our very own Penn State Nittany Lions took down the supposedly high and mighty Minnesota Golden Gophers. Not only did we take them down we dominated them in all aspects of the game. Some of the key highlights were D Will's 2nd and third touchdowns in his college career, when Michael Robinson almost killed #20 on Gophers defense. I would have to say that for once both the defense and the offense came to play. In my opinion i think that this game against the Gophers was the turning point for Penn State football in the fact that they will now be ranked and that now people will start showing some respect for Penn State football and Joe Paterno. If this happens to be Joe Paterno's last season, what better way to end it than with an undefeated season along with maybe, just maybe, another national championship.

I think next week's game will settle PSU's season. I was really excited this Saturday and if we can play the same way against the Buckeyes, I think we have a great shot at an undefeated season. - EschaTon
You're so right--Ohio is going to be a phenomenal game, but we'll come out with it. I don't know, I smell a rose bowl. AI think this is what Joepa was waiting for.--Mike JOnes
How to be a summer league swim coach.
Step One. Know what your getting yourself into. This is no cakewalk, instead it can potentially be one of the worst experiences in your life if you dont know what your doing or dont know what your talking about to little kids because kids always ask questions.
Step Two. Never ever lose your cool because the second that you do you will have a very angry parent on your @$$ for the rest of the season. Yes I speak from experience.
Step Three. Always come to practice knowing what you want the children to accomplish. If you come to practice and look like you dont know what your doing and if you look unprepared, kids will pick up on it and will start going wild.
Step Four. Never yell at a child, when they arent listening use the phrase "eyes on me" it works everytime.
Step Five. Always turn in the meet entries in on time. Everytime you dont, your team gets penalized 100 points and you get 100 bucks taken off of your paycheck, and on top all of that the teams moms all want to rip your head off.
Step Six. HAVE FUN
With all of these steps, in order, you should have a successful swim season and have fun with all of the children in the sport of swimming.

When looking for an icon, I did not really know where to begin. I decided on an image of Michael Phelps because he is the epitome of the all around great athlete. He is arguably the best swimmer of all time, next to Mark Spitz. Along with being a great swimmer, he is also a great person and competitor. Not only has he accompished more in the sport of swimming than any other person on earth, but he has done it in a mere 19 years here on earth. He is and always will be the best all around swimmer of all time. This image/icon represents all the joy, hard work, and dedication that goes into swimming and what it feels like when everything pays off.

Looking at the picture on the homepage, im gunna have to say that liberals suck. Its plain and simple, they just flat out suck. If they are so good and awesome then why is Bush in the white house?? Seirously lets thin about how dumb John Kerry is. In one of his presidential debates, he commented that he had better hair than both Bush and Cheney. Who does that?? I think I am going to stop all of this talking because its not worth wasting my breath on you people, and also because I will probably be shot for everything that I just said, but oh well who cares. Gotta represent the Conservatives and the South.

Looking at the predicted path of Hurricane Rita, things look bad again for the people in Louisiana. I feel horrible for those people because everyone is doing everything that they can do, but it doesnt matter because there is nothing anyone can do to stop all of this. The damages have already exceded 200 billion dollars and its not done yet. To me that is just mind boggling, I cant even fathom how bad it must be. While I see pictures everyday, that means nothing to what it really could be like living there and living through all of that. Somee advice that I could give people would be to just help out in any way that you can.
(9/21/05)
Last night was rediculous. How does a team that is up by 13 completely fold and lose to a team that just flat out sucks. I am referring to how the Redskins beat the Cowboys last night by one point and not only was it one point, but it was in the last couple minutes of the game. The Cowboys couldnt just hold them off and played it safe, instead they had to be all flashy and careless and that is what cost them the game. Oh well, life goes on. Today was nothing short of busy. I went from weights this morning at 6 AM, staright to Psychology at 8 AM and then back for breakfast and a shower and then I had 2 more classes and then straight to practice and then to dinnner and now I am sitting in study hall, the coolest place on earth. So I didnt think it could get any worse with weather down in the Southeast United States until I heard about hurricane Rita. It is huge and its headed in the same path as hurricane Katrina. I feel soo bad for the people down there who have already lost almost everything, and now they more than likely will los eveerything by the end of this hurricane. Its just rediculous and there really isnt much that we can do to stop the hurricane. Anyways im gunna hit the books, so I will see all of you tomorrow in class. Have a good one.

Im sittin here watching my Dallas Cowboys wail on the Washington Redskins. They actually dont look that bad. The defense is looking good they look like they came to play. The offense is looking a little sluggish in trying to get things going. Anyway you look at it, the Dallas Cowboys are going to win. One thing that I have always noticed is that no matter how bad the Cowboys are they always beat the redskins, no matter what. The defense just picked it off and its the end of the first quarter, I would love to talk some more on this blog, but my Cowboys are playing and they are actually doing well so goodnight and I will see you tomorrow. Go Dallas!!!!

To be honest, I have no idea what the quiz in class will be on. Am I supposed to read every single persons blog and remember who wrote what?? How can one do that. Maybe I am wrong, so if anyone is reading this and knows exactly what we are supposed to know for the test please let me know. Anyways today was very long, but on the bright side the weekend is right around the corner and it is yet another football weekend in State College Pennsylvania and I am pumped. It also just happens to be the first recruting weekend for the swim team and I have a recruit. So I hope all the guys on the football team perform well and I can get my recruit to come to this school because the team could use him. Anyways, im off to read some of these peoples blogs to see if I can get an understanding of what all these people are about. See you guys tomorrow and happy studying.

I just finished reading the first chapter in the Understanding Comics book and it was very interesting to me the way that they attempted to define comics. It seemed as though all they could come up with was a bunch of static images organized in a story-like form. That, they claimed, was the best way to define a comic because it could be perceived as many different things to many different people. Which then brings me to my next point in the fact that this sounds a lot like what we talked today in class about truth and how there is no real definition as to what it is. Truth can be defined as many different things. One of which is the conformity to fact or acutuality, while another could be a statement proven and accepted. All of this means that truth is relative and cannot be truly defined as one specific thing. It is instead what others perceive it to be.

Last night was probably the craziest night that I have seen since I have been here. All night long all I could hear was yelling coming from all over my dorm. I had no idea as to what it was coming from until I remembered that it was the Philedelphia Eagles playing. I would have to say that every single room in the entire dorm had the game on. You could hear the screams of joy and also the screams of sorrow throughout the halls of the dorm. Also it was hilarious because the Eagles lost, and me being a Dallas Cowboys fan, and also a Michael Vick fan, I was ecstatic to hear that they lost. So for all those Eagles fans out there, SORRY.
(9/13/05)
Mike Vick is the man, but the Redskins will beat the Cowboys on Monday Night~~

Tonight is the big game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons. To be honest I am not a fan of either team, but I cant help but walk around this campus and see all of the die hard Eagles fans. I would like to see the Eagles lose just to see some of the peoples reactions, I think it would be hilarious. Also, im not too sure that the Eagles have the power to stop Michael Vick, lets be honest he is the man when it comes to being a quarterback. The dude can run through anyone and anything (that is if he is on that night). Anyways thats pretty much all I have for today, so I guess I will see you tomorrow.

So once again sitting here in study hall, and I have absolutely nothing to look forward to tonight because it is a sunday night. Oh well, yesterday was fun because of the football game, which we won and played so much better than last week (thank god) and then I was able to actually go out last night, something us swimmers do not get to do very much. Lets talk about yesterdays game. I thought it was nothing shoirt of amazing considering the players that we have. Michael Robinson, Derrick Williams, Tony Hunt, Justin King, and Deon Butler just tore it up and it was fun to watch the offense actually produce things, and not just the defense. Alll in all I was proud to say that I was a Penn State Nittany Lion fan yestedray at the game with the 42-24 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats. By the way what is a bearcat, is there such an animal??

I dont think that I have ever been this tired in my entire life. Between weights and running and swimming I am barely getting by on the sleep that I am getting, but I cant get to sleep any sooner because of none other than the infamous study hall. Lemme tell ya this place is awesome. Nothing very exciting happened to me today except for the fact that I saw one guys fall off his bike and another bite it on his skate board. Its pretty sad when people hurting themselves by falling off bikes and such is the highlight of your day. I have my self-narrative due tomorrow which I think that I did the right thing trying to remix it, but im not exactly sure because we werent exactly told what to remix so...I hope that I did it right. Well I guess that I will see everyone tomorrow in class and good luck finishing up your narratives guys.

So i just got done with the most boring thing ever and that was a psychology study survey. It had about 500 questions ranging from what my favorite color was to whether I had attempted to kill myself before. Now what kind of knowledge could they possibly gain from questions like that. Oh well, today was rediculously busy, I have been going since about 6 this morning and I have had swim practice, math class, the coolest english class ever, then to my health class, and then back to practice (which was a near death experience), and then to the psychology thing and now I am sitting here in study hall attempting to look like I am doing something. Well, thats all for today blog I am going to keep on pretending, I will be back tomorrow.
(9/7/05)
Do you have psychology 002? I have it MWF and I have to participate in those surveys too. Sounds like it should be great fun...

Wow practice was near impossible today. Not only did we have 5:15 weights and sprints and medicine ball work, but we also had a 2 hour swim practice at 2:30, what a day. Im sitting here in study hall being bored and i really dont have anything to talk about today except for the fact that it was a very sad day for the members of the supreme court because of the death of Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist and the fact that they had to say their last goodbyes to him. Rehnquist had been a Justice in the Suprmem Court for 33 years and had battled thyroid cancer for a very long time. Also in the news today was of course the aftermath of hurricane Katrina which just makes me feel aweful for all of those people. Not only did they not know it was coming, but they also were not able to evendo anytyhing to stop it. There is actually a girl in my Sociology of Sport seminar that lived in New Orleans whose house was destroyed and had originally gone to Loyola University and had transferred because I guess the school had been detroyed. Well thats all I have for today so I be back tomorrow with some more interesting news I hope.
(9/6/05)
Its labor day and no classes and no practice, I love this day. First off, lets talk about the game this weekend. We won, but lets be honest, its gunna take a lot more than what we did this weekend in order to beat any good temas. If all we can do against a crappy D-1 team is win by 10, then we have a lot more to accomplish before we man up again ohion state or anyone of that caliber. I think the most embarrasing thing for me was watching my boy Michael Robinson, from Viriginia, just suck. There is no other way of putting it other than that he just flat out sucked. On a positive note, we did have some very BIG plays such as Tony Hunt's 60 yeard run and the fumble recovery by Alan Zemaitis for a touchdown. It was good to see that at least the defense came ready to play football on staurday afternoon. Well enough about being negative against the football team, at least we won. FIGHT ON STATE!!!
(9/5/05)
You are right he didn't play too well, but the coaching staff is destroying the kid. There is only so much that one person can do on their own. Maybe if they didn't run him every other play and actually let him play qb he wouldnt suck so much. But you are right in one thing: at least we won. Can't wait for Cinci. --Veritas

It was finally here, the biggest day of my life and I was ready. I know that I had put in the proper training and all the hard work, it was my time to shine. My team and I arrived in the sunny areas of Fort Lauderdale, Florida all ready to swim and ready to kick some @$$. After we had checked in to the hotel it was time to head over to the pool for a quick swim before the competition began. We swam and then headed back to the hotel and relaxed and prepared ourselves to swim fast. I woke up early the next morning, from a 9 hour sleep, refreshed, relaxed, and ready to roll. I got out of bed and put on my headphones to my ipod and started listening to The Battle from the movie Gladiator, got my bag ready, and left hoping to return victorious.
When I arrived at the pool, I set my bag down and began to do some arm swings to get ready to warm up. It was time for the morning swim of the Men's 200 Backstroke, so I put my racing suit on, turned up the volume of my music and began to head back behind the blocks. My mind was completely clear and I was completely focused on the objective that laid before me. I jumped in the water ready and waiting for the starter sound. Take your mark. BEEP. I was off and feeling great, the best that I had ever felt. Here came the first turn, nailed it and I was off again. The second and third were just as good. Final lap and I knew that I was in the lead so all I did was try to crank into the wall. I hit the wall and looked up at the timing board. WHAT!!!!! I couldnt believe what I saw. It wasnt even my best time and I was heartbroken and feeling worthless. I was in shock. As I walked back over to my coach he said it was an ok swim and that I will have a second chance that night to do it again. I warmed down and left the pool without the result that I had expected.
I tried so hard to forget about the swim and to get a good nap in, but it wasnt working all I could think ab out was how much I sucked that morning. So I just got out of bed and decided to watch a movie. The time came to head back over to the pool. When I arrived i did the same thing as in the morning, stretched and warmed up. It was time again so i strapped on my suit and put my headphones on and headed behind the blocks. Take your mark. BEEP. I was off again and this time i felt horrible, nothing seemed to click, I knew that I was in for another crappy race. I hit the wall and didnt even want to look at my time, until I saw my team going nuts, so I decided to take a look. I couldnt believe what I saw. It was my best time and it was also good enough for me to make the USA National swim team. I was ecstatic, I couldnt believe what I saw. So ever since then when something feels like crap I always know that it could be a good outcome because in the words of Metallica "It dont feel good until it hurts."
I think now I am supposed to tell all of you why i chose my license, which is fine, but it really wasnt much of a choice because not only were there two questions, but I was also told which answers to select for the license. The first question proposed was if I minded my work being used commercially. To be honest I really wouldnt like for my work to be used commercially to benefit others if I know that I could potentially be getting money, but as long as it makes Penn State look good, then i dont mind, but i dont really want anyone else using it to make money.
The second question proposed in obtaining my license was whether i minded modification to my work. This is something I totally agree with. If someone wants to take their time to help me get a better grade in writing, because writing is not one of my strongest subjects, then let them have at it. This question had 3 answer choices to it and they were 'yes', 'yes as long as other share alike', and 'no'. I decided to chose the one that said 'yes as long as others share alike' because if I take the time to help, someone out on a paper and to do my best to help them make their paper have that extra little edge, then I would definately want them helping me out and making suggestions to mine. Thanks for your time and if you have any suggestions to this small assignment, then please feel free to fix it.
Hey class and teacher, not really quite sure what all this is about because i have never done one of these before, but oh well here it goes anyway. I am from Richmond, Virginia and went to Midlothian High School. I am here at Penn State on a swimming scholarship and look forward to the whole college experience. I am a huge Dallas Cowboys fan for pro football and for college and dont get me wrong i love the Nittany Lions, but my favorite team would have to be the Texas Longhorns. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the class and also learning as much as I can in the class. Hope we all have a great year!
