Sentencing teenagers as adults deal with more then the death sentence. There are many reasons why juveniles should be convicted as an adult. One reason is when juveniles are tried as a juvenile their records are “cleared” when they turn eighteen. Just because their record has been “cleared” does not mean that they, as a person, has changed. If the juvenile is tried as an adult their record remains with them for a lifetime. Also juveniles, especially teenagers, are able to make decisions and differentiate between right and wrong, just like any adult. They can rationally make decisions and consciously know what they are doing. A juvenile that commits murder is still a murder, a juvenile that commits theft is still a thief and a juvenile that deals drugs is still a drug dealer. Why should they deserve special treatment? Should they be allowed a second chance? The victims of their crimes do not have a second chance so it is not fair that the juveniles, unlike other criminals, have a second chance also. By trying juveniles as adults the world with also be made a safer place and it also ensures that those who are beyond hope receive the punishment they deserve.
