When our journey here at Penn State began at our FTCAP meeting, we were introduced with [to] the Penn State Principles which are “I will respect the dignity of all individuals within the Penn State Community. I will practice academic integrity. I will demonstrate social and personal responsibility. I will be responsible for my own academic progress and agree to comply with University Polices.”(Penn State Principles) Also at this meeting they told us of all the different cultures that we might see as we attend Penn State. They also [further; you have used also in the preceeding sentence] mentioned as we live here that we should not be too quick to judge people[,] if you [we] don’t know who they really are, based on stereo types we may have heard. They were introducing us to diversity which is “the condition of being diverse: variety.”(Merriam-Webster) Penn State tries to make each person that attends this school more understanding of the people and world they live in [which they live; it's improper to end sentences with propositions, such as "in"].
Diversity can be defined through many different categories like where people are from. Attending a big university like Penn State[,] compared to a local community college[,] will bring a wide variety of people. At Penn State I find people from the Pittsburg area, Philadelphia area, New York City area and many other places. When eating in the commons you notice different peoples’ cultures coming out when they call soda, pop, or cola. Also another thing you might hear is a different name for is hoagie, cause [which] in New York they are called heroes or subs and when you say hoagie to them they have no clue what you are talking about. When people call things different names then what you are used to, it helps you become a more diverse person because you begin to understand other cultures and maybe adopt some of their language.
Another way to show diversity here at Penn State is through different peoples’ religious backgrounds. There are people who are Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Islamic and many others. When you stay in the dorms[,] your floor has meeting[s] and activities to introduce you [to] the people you are staying with. When you do these activities you learn about peoples’ backgrounds and religions and find out things you may never have known. If other people did things to understand other peoples’ religion[s] then conflicts over religion like those in the Middle East could have a chance to be resolved. If we could just learn to understand people then many problems would go away[.] and Penn State helps that with [by] presenting a diverse group of people.
The studying abroad program is a great way to learn about other cultures because you are experiencing them first hand. There are many different cultures that people come from at Penn State but you can not experience them to the fullest unless you go and live there. When you live there you get to experience the entire area from things like what foods they eat, the types of fashion and other things. You also get to see a different style [of] government and how it works. Studying abroad could [is; be exact, you don't have to say things could or might in your paper. As it is your argument, pretend that you are right (if you are unsure), it will make your argument stronger by showing readers that you strongly believe what you say] be one of the best ways to experience diversity.
[This is a very nice definition of the role diversity plays in the University, but I think you could benefit from some more thorough proofreading. There were instances of words missing and grammatical mistakes that should have fallen out during a re-reading of a draft. If you would like some help on the next paper, please come by my office or drop by the writing center with your next draft. You also do tend to repeat word choices, so you focus on reading for that next time.]

When you bring people from all over the country and the world you get different opinions. One huge opinion people have is their favorite sports team. One big debate people have is what team is better, the Eagles or the Steelers. We get many opinions from which hometown is better, which high school people went to is better, and we also find the different political views people have and who they support. With the different opinions we find that we have to find ways to get along or there will be a lot of conflicts. It helps us to respect other people’s opinion and voice our own opinions which will prepare us for life after college when we enter the working world full time.
Diversity is what builds a community and Penn State tries hard to present a diverse group each year with the new freshman class. We learn about each others home towns, religions, foreign countries and their different opinions in certain issues. The diversity here at the University teaches us that there are many different people in this world that we live in. You meet people here that you may never have had the chance to meet. Its fun to see and meet new people and make new friends that could last even after college. Diversity helps us to grow as individuals and makes us better people.

Diversity can be defined through many different categories like background or where people are from. Attending a big university like Penn State compared to a local community college will bring a wide variety of backgrounds. At Penn State I find people from the Pittsburg area, Philadelphia area, New York City area and many other places. I notice that names of certain things like soda are called pop or cola in other areas. Another thing would be a hoagie, cause in New York they are called heroes or subs and when you say hoagie to them they have no clue what you are talking about. The diversity of people’s location allows everyone to understand the different cultures around them.

What goes along with people’s background is their religion. There are people who are Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Islamic and many others. The university welcomes any religion and tries to satisfy there needs in anyway they can. With the different religions present at the school people can learn about what other people believe in a try to prevent conflict like those in the Middle East. If people understand how others are thing about certain things then we could work at resolving problems here or around the world.

The studying abroad program is a great way to learn about other cultures because you are experiencing them first hand. There are many different cultures that people come from at Penn State but you can not experience them like you would if you lived at a house and were able to experience the entire area from things like what foods they eat, the types of fashion and other things. When you live in a different country you can learn new ways of doing everyday things and how they teach where you are at.

When you bring people from all over you get different opinions. One huge opinion people have is their favorite sports team. One big debate people have is what team is better, the Eagles or the Steelers. We also find the different political view people have and who they support.
