How many times do you find an album from an artist that you can sit down and listen to the whole thing at one time? Have you ever put in a new cd from one of my [your] favorite artists and find [found] it hard to listen to the whole cd at one time? Many times the first album from an artist is the best one they ever make because it has all the songs they have been writing since they were first together. I thought this was going to be the case with the new 3 Doors Down cd, ["]Seventeen Days["][,] because the first album they released was one I can put in and listen to anytime. I was pleasantly surprised after I listened to their new album Seventeen Days.

Many times when a new rising artist writes a new album[,] it is not as strong as their first because they do not put as much time into it. This happens because the freshly released album was made quickly without the heart and solo[soul] of the first. When 3 Doors Down wrote their new album they definitely took time to write each and every song. This new album is their third album since they first released “The Better Life,” in 2000. Their first album was not too long and was very easy to listen to the whole cd, which [is] something I was looking for in their new album.

Three Doors Down opens the new album with a fast beat song which serves perfect for an album opener. It has good guitar solos with up beat lyrics. The opening song flows nicely, but keeps you guessing [how?]. The next song has some nice guitar solos and keeps with the nice up beat start. As you progress through the album to some later songs, the tempo seems to slow down a bit, which you expect later in an album. You start to here some violin parts, which helps to add strength to the songs. The end of the album is slower then the beginning and allows for a smooth ending that does not leave you hanging on for more.

Sometimes when listening to other artists’ albums it seems as you get further into the cd many of the songs seem like they sound the same. When listening to ["]Seventeen Days["] none of the songs sound the same. Each of the songs off of this album has its own distinct sound that makes it a great record. The guitar parts sound different in each song along with the drums.

Many of the songs on this album have lyrics that most people can relate to. The songs talk about how you miss seeing a person you love, and also how you might feel about a person but you are too afraid to say. The lyrics also talk about how you try and reach to find the true[th] that is out in the world we live in. With lyrics you can relate too, the album becomes more personal[,] so you tend to enjoy it more.

The lengths of each of the songs it rather short ranging from three minutes to four and a half minutes long. With only twelve songs, the album is not too long. The total run time is a little over forty four minutes long. This allows you to listen to almost the entire album while driving for a decent amount of time. With a short time like that you do not really have time to get bored with the record. Since all the songs sound different[,] the sound that the band produces never seems to get old.

This album has all the right features to make it successful. Some of those features are the shorter song lengths, constantly changing beats and the personal lyrics. With all these qualities it is hard to find anything wrong with this record. It leaves you guessing about what is going to be [occuring?] next and that allows for the album to be exciting. If you like modern rock then most likely you would enjoy this album.

[This is a very good evaluation. You establish a set of criteria, then you explain how this album conforms to them. Also, your writing has really improved, although there are still problems. Comma usage and sentence coherence make this paper a bit difficult to read, but, overall, a good effort.]
