I sat in complete silence as I watched the rest of my team get dressed, and mentally prepared for this next journey we were about to embark upon. It seemed as if all the sweat and tears my teammates and I had shed throughout this long and exhilarating season was [were] about to pay off. This game that we were about to play, was going to be the biggest game of our lives. I sat and waited for our coach to give us that [a? i'm not sure what you mean here] pre game speech. There was no holding back in this game because for many of us this could be the last game we would ever play. [you use game really repititiously]

I began to make my long march to the rink and could hear the loud roars of the screaming crowd as we made our way closer to the ice. As I stepped out onto the ice [this is repititious] I could feel my adrenalin levels beginning to rise as I heard my teams’ name being chanted. The butterfly feeling in my stomach was beginning to grow as we warmed up before the drop of the puck. I lined up in the corner to do the normal line drills and took a look around the stands to find the biggest crowd I had ever played in front of. I could feel the butterfly feeling growing more intense as the time ticked down on the clock for the start of the game.

My teammates and I all gathered around the net as we had done in every game before, except this was the last game [time] we would play as a team win or lose. The winner of this game would be crowned champion. I stood in my normal spot behind the net as the slamming of our sticks on the ice started, as we waited for the arrival of our goalie, to begin our last words before the start of the game. The only words to be said were “not to leave anything behind and to give it our all.” I began the count down for our cheer then moved to the bench where we found which line was going to start. My line was called and we lined [rep.] up at the face off with hundreds of cheering fans waiting to see the game they all came to see. The referee skated in to drop the puck. One, two, three[,] the puck was dropped, and the game started.

[Watch out for repititious overusage of words. This paper tends to do this, esp. with words like "line" and "game". Closer rereading will reveal these problems.]

I kept pushing. I wasn’t going to let a small injury hold me back from the one thing that would make my “childhood years” complete. It was the championship game for my soccer team, and we were tied with just minutes left on the clock.

I started playing soccer at the early age of eight. It had been a passion of mine for quite some time, and seeing as how it was my last year of soccer because I was taking up a new sport I wanted to have a successful season. We had been so close every year, but we were never able to win the big one. Agonizing defeats in the championships in years past made this year that much more important to me.

Throughout the season, I had been one of the leaders of my team, playing many other positions other then my own. The entire season was not so great for our team, but we had made it to the championship game through hard work and determination in the playoffs.

After a minute or two of back and forth action, we were down to the last minute of our season. The game was tied and everyone was waiting for that last goal to be scored. The players and fans stood on there feet and waited as the time ticked down and the game was about to move into overtime. Our team went with a strong defense in overtime in hopes of bringing the game into a shoot out.

We accomplished our goal of not allowing a goal to bring our team to a shoot out where we figured we had the best chance. Our five shooters were picked and pulled a side as we waited for the outcome. The first two shooters of both teams missed there shots and it was my turn. The nerves were racing through me as I planted my foot into the ball with all my might. It went low and in the corner and our team was up by 1 but the other team had three shooters left and our team only two. The two shooters from our team and the other team both missed and it came down to this last shot. The opponents’ shooter went up and kicked it high and it was heading to go straight under the crossbar when our goalie jumped and knocked it down from going in. We won and defeated a team that was the favorite to win which made the victory even more exhilarating.
