After arriving at Penn State University the first day and after receiving my room assignment, I moved in to room 507 in Brumbaugh Hall. At the time, I didn’t realize how lucky I was to receive this room assignment. Over the course of the semester, I realized how fortunate I was to live on such a great floor. Fifth floor Brumbaugh is a great place to live because of the people, the location, and our RA.
Living in Brumbaugh on the Fifth floor is something that I never thought I’d get to experience. It’s an experience [this is repetitive] that I never would[ ha]ve imagined, but will always remember. Everyone living here knows how lucky we are. No one denies the fact that we are living on the best dorm floor in East Halls. Where else can you go to hear kids screaming “Will!” at three in the morning? The kids living here have made my first semester at Penn State incredible. I moved into the dorms under the impression that I wouldn’t like living here. I was quickly proven wrong. I love living here. This place really feels like home.
[Great evalaution. Some repetitive language and weird contractions drags it down a little, but, overall, this is well structured and thought out.]

The first day I arrived here, I had the pleasure of meeting many people from the fifth floor. We all hit it off right away. I became great friends with about fifteen people within the first few days. There are all types of guys living here. We have some athletic kids, some computer whizzes, and some drunks. They are all very different, but they all like to have fun. This is why there are often people singing along to the Karaoke machine in our lobby, and why my roommate and I locked our friends in their own room. Every Tuesday and Thursday, a group of about twenty of us from Brumbaugh go to the Intramural building to play dodgeball. This is always the highlight of my week. These kids are some of the nicest and most fun I’ve ever met. I am so happy with my friends from Brumbaugh and would not trade them for anything. They are one of the main reasons I love living here so much.
Another reason why I love living in Brumbaugh on the fifth floor is because of the convenient location. Brumbaugh is located right on Park Ave, which makes access to North Halls very easy. They are just a few blocks down the street. It is also nice that the parking lot is directly behind the building, making loading and unloading very easy when I go home for the weekend. Brumbaugh’s great location also provides us with easy access to the Fisher Building. Fisher is a building filled with empty rooms that are great for studying and working. This building is located just a few steps from the entrance to Brumbaugh. Closeness to the Commons building is another benefit to living in Brumbaugh. This makes it very easy to simply run down to the Commons and get something to eat or buy something that we may need. There are places to eat, places to shop, and even a grocery store in the Commons building. This just adds to the convenience.
The last reason that Fifth Floor Brumbaugh is an amazing place to live is that our RA is incredible. Will is from Thailand and speaks 6 different languages. At his home in Thailand, he has a six foot snake that he doesn’t keep in a cage. It roams around like a dog. Will is the funniest person I’ve ever met. Will fell asleep in my friend’s bed on Monday afternoon. In an attempt to wake him up, my friend put a hand vacuum on Will’s face and turned it on. He still didn’t wake up. Will is an outstanding resource for schoolwork as well. He is amazingly smart and always open to helping us. If I ever need any Calculus help, I can count on Will to be awake in his room until four in the morning every night. One of the best things about Will is that he doesn’t really care what occurs on the floor. He told us the first day that his only rule is “Don’t die.” He meant it too. As long as everyone is being safe, Will lets everyone have fun. He has even been known to have some fun himself. Will’s leadership is present, yet not authoritarian, which allows us to really enjoy our experience here in Brumbaugh.

Fifth Floor Brumbaugh

After arriving at Penn State University the first day and after receiving my room assignment, I moved in to room 507 in Brumbaugh Hall. At the time, I didn’t realize how lucky I was to receive this room assignment. Over the course of the semester, I realized how incredibly lucky I was to live on such a great floor. Fifth floor Brumbaugh is a great place to live because of the people, the location, and our RA.

The first day I arrived here, I had the pleasure of meeting many people from the fifth floor. We all hit it off right away. I became great friends with about 15 people within the first few days. There are all types of guys living here. We have some athletic kids, some computer whizzes, and some drunks. They are all very different, but they all like to have fun. This is why there are often people singing along to the Karaoke machine in our lobby, and why my roommate and I locked our friends in their own room. Many times there are screaming drunks running through the halls at 3 in the morning. Every Tuesday and Thursday, a group of about 20 of us from Brumbaugh go to the Intramural building to play dodgeball. This is always the highlight of my week. These kids are some of the nicest and most fun kids I’ve ever met.

One of the best things about Will is that he doesn’t really care what goes on on the floor. He told us the first day that his only rule is “Don’t die.” He meant it too. Everyone on our floor lives like we don’t have an RA. Like I said before, it’s not uncommon to see drunks chasing each other around at 3 in the morning. As long as everyone is being safe, Will lets everyone have fun. He has even been known to have some fun himself.

Living in Brumbaugh on the Fifth floor is something that I never thought I’d get to experience. Everyone living here knows how lucky we are to be here. No one here denies the fact that we are living on the best dorm floor in East. Where else can you go to hear kids screaming “Will!” at 3 in the morning? The kids living here have made my first semester at Penn State something that I will never forget. These are the reasons why I love living here and why this place feels like home.
