November 15
One week from today and we go home for Thanksgiving break. I personally can not wait to go home and get away from school so i can chill for a few days with my friends and family. It will be nice not to have to worry about anything for a few days. The only thing is when we come back we have a lot of work with final projects and final exams. It will be nice whenwe come back only having 3 weeks then having 3 weeks off. That break will be a needed break.

I know this topic is a little late but i saw it again in the Daily Collegian today. It was how the police are using facebook to charge people that rushed the field. It is public information but i dont think it is right that they are doing that. The goes against what facebook was designed for. If they want to use facebook to charge people with crimes then the fun facebook has in it will be lost.

The Flyers are off to a great start now that the season has been under way. They started off winning some and losing some but now it seems as if they have found out how to win. Simon Gagne leads the league in scoring and Peter Forsberg leads the league in points and assists. It is dissappointing that we have no coverage up here but with the internet i am able to watch a recap of the goals. Its not the same as watching the entire game but at least i get to see some of sort of Flyers hockey.
Novmeber 2
The start of exams begins tomorrow. This exam schedule is not as intense as last time cause they are spread out over the next couple of weeks. It will be better because i have more time to concetrate on the subject that i am going to have the test in. After these test the next tests will be finals then the semester is over. I am looking forward the going home for thanksgiving for a nice break in the action here at State.

Its November. Its hard to believe that we are already into november. Its just over month and we are taking finals then were home for winter break. I have heard that college goes fast but i didnt realize how fast it really goes. Finals week is going to be here before we know it and all those projects we have been blowing off are going to be due. This next month is going to be a lot of work and we have to be ready for it.
October 31
Its Halloween and im looking forward to my first one here at Penn State. If its like any other special event it should be a great time. I think Halloween is still fun even after you stop going around and getting candy cause now you just party. I know last Halloween was a fun time but being here at State College should make for an interesting night.

3 Doors Down concert was last night. I didnt decide to go till about 2 hrs before the show when one of my friends sold me his tickets. It was the first time i had seen altered birdge and shinedown in concert and was quite impressed with there performance. 3 doors down was just like the other times i had seen them in concert. They still didnt play the some of the songs i wanted to here. It was still a great time.
October 25
I rolled over in bed today and couldnt believe that it was snowing out. I had heard the chance for flurries over night but i didnt think it was going to be full out snowing. Its not even halloween. I really hope it changes to rain cause im not ready for it to be that cold out. Back home i would look forward to a snow day in hopes of having off but here i dont like it cause now i have to walk to class in it. i dont mind snow but it to early for it to snow.

That poem is saying that although the wheelbarrow sits there and get covered in rain with out it a lot of things wouldnt be possible. What those things are the author leaves to us to decide. It could help feed the chickens, move things that would other wise be to hard to move. The wheelbarrow could also be a living enviroment for some creature so without it that creature could die.

Are muscle cars coming back? In the 60 and 70 america was designing some of the greastest cars ever to be made with a lot of horsepower and stylish bodies. Many of the names the used back then like the GTO, Charger, and Camaro have concept cars that have come out to try and bring back that muscle car name. When muscle cars were first built they were fast and the average person could afford it. The new ones are a ike more expensive and but still pack the horsepower.

One question tends to have people choosing one answer would be what would you rather have, a crotch rocket or a harley? I find it hard to answer this question because its hard to pick a side. If you want speed then you would go with a crotch rock or if you want a bad ass bike that screams old school you would go with a harley. I find it hard to answer the question because I like going fast but i also like what the harley stands for. With the harley you get american history of what many americans find difines a motorcycle. Many times when people see you drive a harley they thing twice about starting something with you because it carries a tough guy name tag. When choosing what kind of motorcyle you want you need to think about what you want in a motorcycle and stick with it.
If I ever got a bike, I would definitely go for the crotch rocket. My friend has a bad-ass bike like a Harley (it's called a shadow-something?) and he looks pretty tough when he's riding it. But since I don't think a huge bike would increase my ass kicking persona, it would be useless for me in that respect. TrinFuff
The Cambodian Genocide was from 1975 to 1979 and was a lot like the Holocuast. They brought people who committed treason were brought a camp a long with their family and executed. They tortured them until the confessed to the crime. Throught out this time a seventh of Cambodias population was killed. Many died from other causes like sarvationa and malnutrition. Cambodia was freed by the Vietnamese Army in 1979.

The big weekend has arrived. This weekend is going to be a long one with such a late game. Tailgating is gonna start early and last all day and if we win it will go until Sunday. We need a complete game from both ends in order to win. If we play a perfect game we will win. It is going to be an insane weekend. If we win they will charge the field with out a doubt.
Well it was a disappointing open night for the flyers when they blew there two goal lead over the New York Rangers in the third period to lose the game. So much for 82-0. Im glad hockey is back on. One year with out it was too long a wait. Flyers are back in action friday night against the New Jersey devils. This is a big game for them because they dont want to start out 0-2. Forsberg is still getting his legs under him since he only played one preseason game. I don think they should have trouble winning friday night because for one the Devils are a huge rival and second they already beat them in preseason. We are winning the Stanley Cup this year no question about it.
The NHL is back tonight. The Flyers open up with the Rangers. The new NHL should produce a lot more scoring with the elimination of the red line. They also added back into the game touch up off sides and a few other rule changes that will hopefully open up the game and let the real talent show through. With the return of the NHL many people believe that their fan base won't be as strong but i think it will. The teams have seen a lot of changes with their rosters because of the salary cap and it will allow more team to be competative. The only fans we might lose are the once that were not true fans at all.
I was home for part of the weekend and is just not the same. Its nice to be home and see your family but there is nothing to do since most of my friends are away at college. After about two hours when you see your family you want to leave and go back to college. I woke up to a nice breakfast of pancakes and eggs that beat the ones made in the commons anyday. After breakfast it was watch tv and do nothing. Next time i go home i am going to have to visit a close college and hang out with some friends.
How to change a spare tire. There are a few things that people who drive cars should be able to do. One of those things is being able to change a tire when ever the occasion comes up.
1. The first thing you need to do is locate the spare tire. In most cars it is in the trunk or under it. In trucks and most SUVs the tire is under the rear of the car.
2. The next thing you need to locate is the jack and wrench to take the lugs nuts off.
3. Before you jack the car up loosen up the lug nuts so it will be easier to take them off.
4. Now you need to locate the jack point under the car. Most of the time you can find where the location from where ever you got the jack from.
5. Once you find the jack point jack the car so the tire is off the ground.
6. Now take the lug nuts off the rest of the way and remove the tire.
7. After you complete that, put the lug nuts on and tighten them as tight as you can.
8. Lower the car slowly until the jack can be removed.
9. Tight the lug nuts in an alternating pattern across from the last one you tightened
10. The last thing you need to do is return the flat tire to the trunk along with the jack and wrench.

I picked this picture because it represents the beginning of adult life for me. It starts out hard and rough with school and all the hard work you have to put into it, but what you get out of school is endless. As I have heard many times, “the sky is the limit.” Its telling you that there is know limit to what you can obtain but it might be hard to get to the point you want to be. School it hard but you have an amazing time like the view the picture is showing.
Some of the first exams are coming up next week and not looking forward to them. I have two exams one in econ and the other in chem. This tests will determine how are you are gonna have to work in the up coming weeks. If you do poorly on them you will have to work extra hard to save your and if you do fine you can stay at the same pace. It seems like only yesterday that we were moving in and now the first exams are coming up. Boy how time flies.
I think this campus needs another big gym. I go to the IM build but it can only hold 60 people and during peak hours it is hard to get anything done. I think if the y had another big gym or a couple more smaller gyms then they might not be as crowded. There are so many people that go here and workout and they have 4 gyms for this entire school. If you go during peak hours you could be in the gym for a good hour and a half to two hours.
One thing i want to do when i get out of college is buy a new car. I like what i have now but i want a new car that will make a statement. I am a huge fan of cars and love to know everything i can about them. I am always look for new things i can buy for my that is if i can afford it. Some of my favorite cars came from the muscle car era from 1968-1974. Anything after or before im not that big a fan of. If it has a lot of horsepower and can light the tires up by getting hard on the gas i am most likely gonna look it up.
Well the Flyers won their first pre-season game againist the Atlanta Thrashers with a final score of 8-6. Simon Gagne had a hat trick leading the team in scoring. I am looking forward to the new season with the new rule changes which will really open up the game. This was shown with the score of 8-6 which is a lot of goals in a hockey game. They accomplished this even without Forsberg who is out for the first two weeks. This season is looking to be a good one. We are bringing home Lord Stanleys Cup.
I dont know if other people noticed but it seems that there are a lot of people that smoke cigarettes here at state college. I know back where i live that not that many people tended to smoke that much. Everytime i walk to a class or walk anywhere a lot of people are smoking. I didnt think it was still that popular because i know in middle school and in high school kids thought they were cool cause they smoked. Im not a promoter of smoking but im not going to preach against it. I have had people that smoled in my family and i hated it so i know that i would never become a smoker. I dont want to increase my chance of having a shorter life.
How bout them Eagles. Im not a huge Eagles fan but i do watch them games. Last nights performance from
McNabb from what i saw sucked. I dont know why everyone loves
McNabb but from many of the game i watched over the years he is not that good. People are always saying how we need recievers that can catch the ball but how bout we get someone that can throw the ball that someone could catch. Many of
McNabbs throw last night were either to high or to low. What do i know im a hockey player i only go but what i see.
Since we were talking about truths in class i thought about a lyric from a song i know. It goes like this "Are you afraid, afraid of the truth in the mirror staring back at you"-Staind There are people that are scared to look in the mirror because they think they are over weight or some other problem. Are we true to ourselves do we believe everything we see and should we believe everything we see.
The weekend is finally here its gonna feel short since the first two weekends we had monday off. Im not looking forward to class on monday. I was happy with the four day week. This weekend should be fun with another home football game that im not going to to but i am going to hit up the tailgate parties. Well it time to start the weekend off classes are over and parties begin.
I think only here the weekend could start on a thursday. Back home when I was in high school is was hard to find things to do on friday and saturday but here you could find a something going on everynight. Its been a lot of fun so far. I ve been waiting for things to slow down but its hust doesnt seem like they are going to. Anyway looking forward to this weekend.
I hate the location of East halls. It is so far from everything except the stadiums. I know the buses are free and take you pretty much anywhere you want to go but the they seem to be full alot of the time. Its good exercise having to walk but it sucks when you have to make that long walk home after partying all night. The one thing i do like about east the that it is full of freshman and you get to meet alot of different people.
Wondering if anyone didnt go to the game over the weekend. I think me and my cousin were the only people in my building that didnt go. I never got season tickets one because i never got around to it and two because i have better things to spend my money on. Im not a huge football fan but i do enjoy the parties. I didnt make it to the tailgate parties before because i was out late the night before and slept in. I took a walk around the building during the game and i dont think i saw a single person. It was something i had never seen.
It seems that anytime you have a day off you do more work then you would if you had class. The long weekend was fun until you get to monday and have to do all the work thats due the next day. Im not one of those people that will do my work early so then I dont have to do it later. I found myself inside most of the day working. Not gonna complain to much cause i had a really fun weekend.
Comment:
I'm with you on doing work later. I find procrastination to work better for me anyway. It definitely puts a damper on the weekend by doing it ahead of time. Good move. - Dragonfire
Narrative
I could hear the loud roars of the screaming crowd as I began to make my long march to the rink to begin the biggest game of my life. As I stepped out onto the ice I could feel my adrenalin levels beginning to rise as I heard my teams’ name being chanted. The butterfly feeling in my stomach was beginning to grow as we warmed up before the drop of the puck. It was hard to hear the coach in the huddle as we listened to his last words of advice.
We lined up of the face off and waited as the referee dropped the puck. The game was underway. There was no holding back in this game because the winner would be district champion and move on the state finals so we needed everyone to give everything they had to win. The game was starting off intense with a lot of hard hitting and cheap behind the play scuffles. There was a lot of puck movement and fast play action. As the first period started rolling down they scored a goal and then a couple minutes later the scored another. They were up on us two to nothing and would have all the momentum going into the second period unless we did something. We caught a break after the referees called a penalty on them in the last minute of play to give us a man advantage. We started cycling the puck around and I saw an opening for a good shot so moved to it and my teammate passed the puck to me and I scored to bring the game within one. The period ended with the momentum now on our side after scoring that goal.
At the start of second period we were working the puck down behind the net. It was passed out front for a shot and the goalie saved it but left laying in front of him and I was able to get a piece of it to send it to the back of the net to tie the game up. The rest of the second period went scoreless but was full of a lot of action. The start of the third period was full of emotion and heart. Both teams wanted to win but only one was walking away with the title of champion. It came down to who wanted it more and who was going to strive the extra mile to win. Late in the third period the winner was determined when the other team worked the puck into our zone and scored. As time ticked down and they were still up by one we realized that our long run at the championship was over and for many it marked the end of there high school hockey career but it was an amazing run to make it to the finals.
